Take The Long Road

Take the long way and you never know where it might lead you or what you might see.

Leaving Moab was hard. I walked the grounds of The Red Cliffs Lodge as the sun was coming up and spent some time watching the horses by Castle Creek. The sound of the water running down the creek was so calming. I really did not want to leave and vowed to come back next summer.

We said goodbye to our cozy cabin and gorgeous surroundings and slowly drove out the gravel path. For our next destination, we chose to take the long way which took us through Southern Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona. It was a long day of driving and getting in and out of the car more times than I care to say, but we were able to explore some of the great American Southwest that we might have otherwise missed had we taken the direct route.

Hole N’ The Rock was a fun stop for the kids. The lodging inside the cliffs was intriguing. I was curious to know what the rooms looked like in there.

Driving through interesting parts of the country. We saw so many small towns and abandoned homes.  A field of yellow wild flowers that was filled with hundreds of prairie dogs. And interesting rock formations that seemed to sprout straight out of the earth.
