As the sun spirals its longest dance, cleanse us. As nature shows bounty and fertility, bless us. Let all things live with loving intent. And to fulfill their truest destiny.
Father’s Day celebrations continued as we ventured out to SlickRock for a summer solstice sunset hummer ride over the sand flats in Moab. It was an amazing way to end a day filled with adventure. Not only did we celebrate Father’s Day, but we also celebrated my birthday. Yay!
I booked our 4×4 expedition through Moab Adventure Center. The same company that we used for the rafting trip taken earlier this morning. Our driver was amazing and offered us knowledgeable fun facts as we drove through some seriously steep and scary terrain. We drove over the slick Navajo Sandstone, laid down in desert sand dunes during the Jurassic Period, about 200 million years ago. The rock weathers into domes and mounds and is sometimes smooth and sometimes bumpy. I speak for my entire family when I say that there were moments when we were truly terrified. Some mounds were so steep that it felt like we were at a 90 degree angle. And what goes up must come down. But we had a world of fun! I couldn’t stop laughing.
SlickRock Trail is a major destination for mountain bikers.
