From Page and Beyond

Before leaving Page Arizona we decided to take in one more hike. I had read that not too far from the hotel was a 1-mile hike that lead to a beautiful spot called the Hanging Garden. Located on the mesa top high above the Colorado River and Lake Powell and hidden by Jurassic Navajo sandstone is a small lush area with a spring created by the absorption of rainwater.  We started the hike early in the morning but even then the searing heat made the short hike difficult and I couldn’t wait to find this small oasis hidden somewhere within this stark landscape. When we arrived at the garden it was not all I expected it to be. The stream turned out to be a few drops of water seeping down the rock face and it was smaller than expected. But it was still beautiful and very unique. A gorgeous contrast amid the dry barren landscape.

After the hike we headed back to the hotel and freshened up before embarking on the 2-hour drive to our next destination. I’m sharing some images of small town sights I captured along the way.

From where I stand this is what my skin looks like after 14 days of being exposed to the climate of the Southwest. There’s something to be said about humidity.
